থাই আমড়া (Thai Hog Plum) সারা বছর ফলনশীল একটি জনপ্রিয় গাছ। শীতের ২-৩ মাস ছাড়া বছরের বাকি সময় এতে ফুল ও ফল ধরে। এর ফল আকারে বেশ বড়, মিষ্টি ও সুস্বাদু হয়। কলমের চারা রোপণের ১ বছরের মধ্যেই ফল দেওয়া শুরু করে।
বৈশিষ্ট্য ও উপকারিতা
ফলন: বছরে ২ থেকে ৩ বার বা তারও বেশি ফল পাওয়া যায়।
আঁটি: এর আঁটি অত্যন্ত ছোট হয় এবং এর ভেতরের শাঁস বেশ মিষ্টি ও রসালো।
চাষাবাদ: উষ্ণ ও আর্দ্র আবহাওয়া এবং প্রচুর সূর্যালোক এ গাছের জন্য উপযোগী।
টবে বা মাটিতে চাষের নিয়ম
টবের আকার: ছাদে বা টবে চাষের জন্য ১৮-২৪ ইঞ্চি গভীরতার (বা ৫০-৬০ লিটার ধারণক্ষমতার) পাত্র নির্বাচন করতে হবে, যাতে নিচে পানি নিষ্কাশনের ব্যবস্থা থাকে।
মাটি: ৫০% বেলে দোআঁশ মাটি, ২৫% পচা গোবর, ১৫% ভার্মি কম্পোস্ট, এবং সামান্য কাঠের ছাই ও বালু মিশিয়ে মাটি প্রস্তুত করতে হবে।
চারা রোপণ: বীজের চারার বদলে ভালো মানের গ্রাফট বা জোড় কলমের চারা রোপণ করা উত্তম।
